No. Our New Hire Certification path is built for people entering the security industry for the first time. No prior experience or licensing is required to start.
The state-mandated unarmed security course is 16 hours. Depending on the schedule you choose, that's typically completed over one to a few days. Transfer and renewal paths usually take less time since they build on existing certification.
Costs vary by registration path and state. New hires pursuing a placement with Tiburo Security may qualify for training at no cost — ask about this when you enroll. Contact us for current pricing on your specific path.
We're currently registering officers under North Carolina's PPSB standard, with programs expanding to Florida, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. If you're in one of those other states, contact us — we can tell you exactly where that expansion stands.
Certification isn't a guarantee of placement, but graduates do have a direct path into Tiburo Security field assignments, and your training record is visible to their scheduling team the moment you're certified. Plenty of graduates also take their certification elsewhere — that's entirely fine.
If your registration lapses, you generally can't just file a late renewal — you may need to retake the full course as if you were a new hire. This is exactly why we recommend starting the renewal process well before your expiration date, not the week of.
It depends on the state and how recent your training was. This is a transfer registration, not a new hire path — contact us with your current license details and we'll tell you exactly what's required.
